Hi everyone,
I have a HKC SecureWatch alarm with Aritech sensors installed. I do not have any model numbers but the alarm is 8 years old. I recently got some work done on the house and since then there have been some problems:
The keypad displays the message “keypad Tamper” and therefore I cannot activate the alarm. I read on several sites that the tamper can be disabled – is this done at the keypad via the manager menu, or at the control box via jumpers?
The plasterer “forgot” to run the alarm wire to the new front door and I do not want to rip the wall open to find the wires and re-connect them. Is there an easy way to disable the “front door” sensors to the alarm?
The magnetic sensor at the back of the house used to be on a sliding door. After the extension I ran the wires to the “new” back door, but in order to close the circuit, they must be touching – so I now have the magnet and contact sellotaped together as any distance at all between them causes the “back door open” message to appear on the keypad. Obviously not ideal J but I’m wondering why the magnetic field is so weak it cannot handle ANY distance at all?
I have bought new sensors & magnets but the problem persists. I can try to reconnect the sensors to the original location, this will rule out a fault in the wire, but what else can I try?
Thanks & Regards,
Al
