Hi,

I've recently built an extra room at the bottom of my garden , I've ran alarm cable and now I'd like to connect it to my hkc securewatch box.

How easy is this to do? I've looked at the panel and I have 8 zones there does't seem to be anything connected into the zone 8 on the box.

Is it just a matter of connecting the cables and adding the zone somehow on the keypanel?

I presume I need to enter the engineer code to do this, and to add the right text for that zone.

Its just going to be a PIR that I'll be adding.

System is an eircom phonewatch box that was in the house in 2005 when I purchased.

Any help would be appreciated!

If you are adding a PiR into zone 8 you connect one pair to the power + - and another pair into the zone terminals.
Zone 8 must be programmed in the engineer menu as Alarm . If the shed is draughty or subject to tempeture changes it is best to use a Duel Tech PiR.
If you do not have engineer access try this post (http://www.alarmshelp.com/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=23) to see if you can default the system .

Tried doing the factory reset as outlined.

Killed mains power , got the fault for power on the panel.
Disconnected battery , keypad died (as it should)
removed lk1 factory reset link.
powered up system, keypad read factory link removed.
entered 4567 code , no effect.
tried 1234 and 1111 code no effect.
entered my original user code and system disarmed.

Did i miss something in the process? as all my zones still look the same and all the sensors still have same names, I presumed with factory reset I would lose that, thats why i think i might have missed something.
Should I have left it powered off for a set amount of time?

Any help would be appreciated , and thanks for the help so far!

All that seems right. The system is possibly engineer locked.
