Hi,

I finally got around to installing an Aritech (GE) DP721R smoke detector W' DB702 base to my Europlex panel. It didn't come w' any instrux but I believe I wired it correctly: supply to pin 1(+) & pin3(-), Zone across pin4 (NC) & pin5 (C)

A few questions:

1) Once activated it seems to "latch" and won't reset unless I unscrew it from the base. Is this normal? (I've got high ceilings so this is impractical). Are there ones that don't latch?

2) Activating the test w' a magnet seems to work OK, but it takes prolonged exposure to smoke to get it to go off - much more than with a standard battery type smoke detector. Is this normal?

3) what does "rem LED" mean on the NC pin (4) of the base?

4) What's pin2 on the base for? - it seems to bridge to pin1 (+ supply)when the detector is removed, but disconnects from it when the detector is in place...

Tx

Various systems have different methods of resetting these devices,
Dut the simpliest way around this is to wire the + trough a nc push
button switch. After an activation you simply press to reset

Yes

These bases are standar for a number of different detectors
rem stands for Remote

hope this helps
