Hi. I purchased house with alarm already fitted. When we have a power cut the alarm goes off for 20 mins.We cannot disarm it with code. Apparently there is no back-up battery pack in it.How can I solve this? Know any engineers?

Depending of the type of alarm system you havethis can be an easy or diffucult job. By what you are saying it would seem like the battery is either missing or disconnected. If it is an Astec alarm system you would be better off getting an engineer to replace the battery, as the main circuit board needs to be removed before installing a new battery in the control panel. You did not state where you are living. But if you are in the leinster area you could check out Reliant Security (http://www.alarmshelp.com/reliant)

In my opinion you must get details from the last owner of the house that what is the procedure of the alarm shut down and restart. Now check it by the engineer and make your house safe and sound...
