Monitored Alarm system & broadband

Hello.I like the new site,just what is needed.I am living in Dublin and I tried to order Eircom broadband.They told me there is some work needed on my alarm system because it is monitored.What do I need to do? Thanks for you help.

Raymond,thanks for the compliments..Regarding broadband on monitored alarm systems.If your system is wired correctly to the phone line there should be what is referred to as Line Seizure.What this means is the line coming into your house goes directly to the dialler on the alarm first.The line coning out of the dialler then feeds any phones,skybox,faxs etc.If this is the case,when the dialler is making a call all other devices,including your DSL modem are disconnected and the alarm can dial out as normal.If the alarm is wired to an extension or some other point within the house then installing a DSL filter to the alarm in the same way as any other phone will also allow the dialler to work as normal.
