View Full Version : CS350 new code
Help With CS350 Alarm System. I have tenants in a rented property of mine and they have left, but I do not have the code for the Aritech CS350 is there any code that I can get to erase the old code and input a new one?

It all dependes on whether the alarm system is engineer locked. Power down the control panel by disconnecting the mains power & also the back up battery.
Locate the factory link on the main PCB (marked LK1) & remove this.
Power up the system & disarm using the factory code 01122.
If the system disarms you have sucessfully unlocked the panel & can now enter the engineer mode using the code 01278.(Don't forget to replace the factory link at this stage.) All codes & configurations can be set in this mode.

Hi There,
I never got the code for my alarm when I moved in. The alarm is 12-15 years old and DJ say that it needs a new chip card (and will be v. expensive).
Any idea how I can re-programme or side step spending a huge amount of money?
Thank you!!:-D
PS the alarm type has a chip card with serial # 0012742 and comes in one of the older type metal boxes aprox 10x6x2" with a keypad.

Is this panel a CS350?
Have DJ originally installed it? if so they would have the engineer code & would not need to replace the chip (unless the system is in an alarm state)
What do you class as expensive?
Around €70-€90 wouls be a standard call out including a service.
You can try defaulting the system by removing the Mains & battery power & the factory link marked LK1
When you repower the system try disarm using the user code 01122
If this disarms then the engineer code will be 01278
As in post above yours
Here I am presuming this is an Aritech system

Hi Colm
It's not a Aritech... De-Jay is printed on the front cover. (Apologies if I have posted this in wrong place).
I am a little nervous in attempting anything with the alarm myself as I set it off previously and had to sit with it, and my dogs screaming, for a couple of hours. I don't know what the factory Link, LK1 is, of where to find it.
What I mean by expensive is E800! which is E200 less than getting a whole new system fitted!! I just don't accept this, particularly that all the wiring, Pir etc is all in place and working fine. They told me that, they don't have the engineer code for it because it is an old model also that a new chip board is expensive and would take about 6 hours for their engineer to fit!
Any help would be very much appreciated!:???:
Is this DeJays system originally?
What exactly are they giving you for €800? A new control panel, key pad, bell box & battery should be aroun €600- €700 incl labour
If the system is over 10 years old it would be ligitimate to recommend a new one, but thats not to say it would be impossible to repair.

Regardless of the engineer lock status or it being in an armed state a good engineer could reset it.
Ask them to do this first & then see how the alarm works. If they refuse to do this then they may be trying to persuade you to buy a new system

Hi k1 and Colm,
Yes it is originally a De-Jay System and I called for one of the Engineers to come out - who I actually got was the Sales Manager.
I did ask them to fix the system for me but when they said it would be in region of E800 just to change the chip panel (no mention of new keypad, bellbox etc) so that it can be re-set, I told them to forget it. He was certainly pushing for a new sale.
I agree, a decent engineer should be able to fix this pretty easily..
Possibly the issue is that I got the Sales Manager i.e. money orientated and not the Engineer. I will phone again and get talking to one of the Engineers and see if he/she can be a little more helpful... Will keep you posted.

I would suggest this approach....
Say you are considering which is best to upgrade your control equipment (Panel keypad bell box ) or go for a complete new system. The best way to make this decision is to find out what else may be wrong with the system. To do this you would like a new code so as to use the system for a few weeks & see what occurs.
It is possible the system will work perfectly, it is also possible there may be numerous problems & in that case a new system would be more cost effective in the long run.
Either way it is very straight forward for any good engineer to call out & reset the system. There are a couple of systems that this would not be possible with, for another company, but this is their system so I cant see any problem. ( Is there any make or model on the keypad? If not maybe post a picture)
If you have problems after that I would recommend upgrading the control equipment first. (This should cost around €650-€750 for a new control panel ,Keypad, Bell box & battery. By the way if they are replacing the panel why would they need to replace the chip as well :confused:
This would realistically split the house into about 8 zones & make any faulty sensors etc much easier to find.

Hi,
I've just had De-Jay sales person out. They wouldn't send an engineer or let me speak to one on the phone.
I took your advice re. getting it reprogrammed to see if it would work first and then upgrade if required.
They say it will take aprox 4 hours to download info from the chip and reprogramme it and it will cost E4-500. To get a new panel will cost E700 and to get new panel with monitoring i.e. call my mobile will cost E900. I'm not impressed.
I'll take some photos to show you a little later.
Thanks.

That IS a LIE
There is no big download.
Take my advice on this have nothing to do with that guy.
Ask him for a quotation in writing of exactly what he is charging you €400 for. When you have that tell he you will be in contact with the NSAI & consumer rights. He is trying to rip you off..
If you are living in dublin I will go out ,for free, & show you how easily this is done. (Like I said previousally there are one or 2 exceptions so if you can post any make or model that is on your panel I will clarify)

Thanks a mill Colm!!! I'm just so glad I'm not being paranoid that I'm being ripped off and that I actually am being ripped off. I've no problem paying a fair price for work. Here are photos...
ps the chip has a sticker on it as follows: Scopetronic vista5_RBI-IRL and vista 5 serial #0012742

An old enough system & in fairness I would be recommending upgrading it also. But the first stage would be to default the system & give you a new code. This does not even require a new chip .This is a 10-15 minute job including reprogramming it. You should be charged no more than a standard call out.

Thanks Colm. I'll have a think about whether to get it reprogrammed or upgraded... suppose upgrading makes more sense. I would have a preference for a monitored alarm that rings my mobile.
Any recommendations with regard to good systems/companies?
(Suffice to say I'm not going to use De-Jay... apart from the rip off aspect, the Sales Mgr and Sales rep that called to me were extremely unprofessional in their carry on... particularly the Mgr. I do have to say that the Eng. that I spoke to originally was great though).
Cheers

Hi,
Im trying to change the code on two Cs350s we have in our office. I have the manual and it says first you have to enter the engineer code 1278.
I cant get this code to work and allow me access to the six sub menues. Anytime I input the code, it tells me "access denied". Any ideas? Could the engineer code have been changed at one point? I dont want to have to unplug, de-battery and zeroize the combo, but will if I have to. Thanx

More than likely the engineer code has been changed.
What happens when you enter your user code?
Who is the installation company?

My installation company was Initial Electronics, Watford.
My user code works fine. You punch in the number and it disarms, or punch it in and hit the checkmark twice to arm it. I just put the user pin in and it came up with "arm menue", so I tried scrolling down, and sure enough, number three was "change codes". Looks like this will work.
Thanx for your time and assistance.
