Hi,
probably a remedial question for the buffs, I apologise, I have just moved into a new apartment which has a HKC securewatch system. Is there an easy way to change the user code as the previous owners didn't provide a manual or any help in this matter?
Thanks

Hello Eamon,
First off did the owners provide you with a user code?
If so enter user code for the alarm system > Manager Menu > User Codes>
select the code yous wish to change (probobly U1) > enter new code & verify
When finished press quit until you leave the user menu.
Also note we can supply manuals for this panel for €5 see our home page for details.

I also have a SecureWatch alarm from HKC and need to change the code.
When I enter the code it straight away starts "System Arming..." and I don't get any kind of menu?
Any ideas as to how I change the code on this?
Any help appreciated...

If the system arms straight away when you enter your user code then your code does not have the required permissions to do anything else.
These permissions can only be changed using the engineer code.
The factory default engineer code for a HKC alarm system is 1234 , you could try that.
If you want to PM me the companys name who installed it we may be able to trace the engineer code for you.

??? If you can get into engineer menu you can change your code no problem.
From service menu use # & * to scroll up & down ok to enter a menu & No to go back a step.

Titch - did you get this sorted? I'm having exactly the same problem where I get User1 Error with both the normal user code and the engineer code.

If you are getting an error when trying to change the code then either you are entering a zero or you are not verifying with the same code on the second entry.

No joy for me on this unfortunately. I get User1 Error with both the normal user code and the engineer code. I can navigate through the Engineer service menu, but cannot save any changes I make.

Admin - could you give me the instructions on how to change the alarm code please? Perhaps I am not following the correct steps.

Presuming you have HKC system.
-Enter user code
-Select Manager Menu
-Select User Codes
-Select U1 Code in use
New codes must be verified in order to be accepted.
This menu is used to program codes for users 1 to 4. Each
code is required to be 4-6 digits in length. The digit 0 is
not allowed and codes cannot end with the number 9.
When finished exit the menu & test new code

I have a HKC alarm. However, when I enter the engineer code (or so I believe it to be) I do not get any "Manager Menu" option. The User Codes are under the "Users Menu".
Assuming these are the same, then I followed those steps but the only code accepted is the original user code. Entering any code other than that results in the "User1 Error".

And when you enter the user code you have what displays?

Admin Im trying to change my code to 1741 and Ive accessed the menus using the present user code and also the engineers code. I'm getting the same error (U1Error). This comes up the minute I enter the code in the 'Code in Use'. The error comes up straight after I enter the new code. I cant even verify it.

With the user code I only get basic menu, and I cannot access any of the service options

Then your user code is not set up for those privledges. You will need the engineer code to enable those user privledges.

I have an engineers code too. I was answering your previous question: "what happens when I use the user code"

If you have the engineer code you can, from the engineer menu, change your user code privledges to allow all the previousally mentioned options.

I know this is old. I left my alarm with it's stupid code as I got fed up trying but I cracked the problem last night and wanted to let other posters or readers know! The reason I couldn't enter a new code for our own system was because I was using the number 1 more than once in my attempted new code. Once I used 4 totally different numerics, it changed successfully. Might be worth a shot for others. YAY!!!

Shouldnt be an issue unless you were dublicating a code that was already present.
The Default code is 1111 remember.

I tried your suggestion to leave out duplicate digits and it then worked! Thanks for your help, I finally have my own alarm code working.... 4 months after moving in!

Hello I have a HKC secure watch alarm. I have been given a four-digit user code and would like to change it. I have access to the 'Manager Menu', from where I go to User Codes (U1) which it says is 'in use'. It appears to be asking for a six digit code but the engineer code is only five digits and, of course the user code is four digits. It will not allow me to begin it with 00.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
