Hello, I have an astec 63D system. From time to time, the power seems
to be low - it will switch itself off (and then on again), and advise
me that the battery is low. At one stage, it displayed the error
message 61 - call engineer. I was advised by the alarm company, and my
landlord, that the battery was replaced less than a year ago. If I
rest my alarm by not using it, the error messages will go and not
return for a few days/weeks. Anybody know the engineers code is or
come across this before?

Hello Jane, when you say the system switches itself off & on again , do you mean it is powering down compleatly? (the screen would go blank) It is possible that there is a mains fault with the supply powering the system.Possibly a fuse loose on the mains supply. Is the orange neon light on at the main control panel? If it is losing mains power like this than that would explain the low battery message even though the battery is relativly new.
The default engineer code is 1174 though I dont think that would be of much help to you.

Hi, I'm not there when it does power down, so I don't know if the screen goes blank...
As to the control box, yes there is an orange light on it. Would it be the alarm company or a general electrician that I should get to look at it?

Your Alarm company would probobly be the best bet. If your are looking for Engineers in the leinster area PM (private message) me with your Area & I will give you a few contacts if needed.
