I was hoping you could advise me how to change window sensors on my alarm system.I recently had my windows changed and the old sensors were destroyed in the process. The system is an Aritech CS350. I could not get Aritech sensors, so I got HKC inertia sensors instead. I connected them as per the previous installation, but when I arm the system, it still says the zones are open - does the system need to be reset first?

Hello Christopher.No, the system should not have to be reset.When you say it is showing zones open,is it all the zones or just 1 zone? Are your sensors just standard or do they include a contact as well? Most installers use red/black for the zone & blue/yellow for the tampers.If they are all showing open it could be they are wired wrong maybe to the contact terminals insted of the sensor & there is no magnet on the window to close the contact. If you are sure you are using the right colours, disconnect the sensors & wire colour to colour (red to black & blue to yellow if only a single cable), then check if the system will set.If it doesnt then the colours would seem to be wrong.(try red/yellow & blue/black insted) If it works from there then work on connecting one sensor & getting the system working. Once you get that done the other sensors wired the same way should all work.
