Hi,

The window blind in my bathroom decided to roll up at lightning speed and knock the cover off the sensor

There are red and black wires connected to a little black thing and another pair of blue and white wires just dangling but it doesn't look like they've snapped off from anywhere.

I've fitted the cover back on.

My alarm panel now says "14 Call Engineer". Can this message be cleared as the alarm seems ok now or do I need a new sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Call engineer 14 refers to a tamper on that zone
If you enter clear set full the display will probobly show zone __ tamper open.
The red & black is all that is needed. If these are connected ok check the pins at the back of the sensor are not bent out of line.

Thanks Colm. The pins were still in the outer shell of the case!

I connected it back and now the "Call Engineer" has gone.

Now I can't get the cover back on

Does this look ok or have I connected the pins "upside down"?

It hard to see fron the picture where the red & black are going.. It should be as follows....
left Red
Middle Black & 1 side of resistor
Right Other leg of resistor

No, the red & black wires are fine - they never came out.

What I mean is the black holder thing (where the wires are screwed into) came away and the two pins were left in the outer case cover.

Did I put the black holder thing onto the pins incorrectly as now it all won't fit together properly? The outer case won't fit back on the wall bracket properly.

(Sorry for the lack of technical terms here  )

Ahh I see whats wrong there...
The black block connector should be onto the base with the screws facing out. Then the lid sits on top , line up the pins & it should snap into place.

Ah! Fixed it! Thanks Colm - it worked :)

All sorted now, cheers!

Hi there.

I just noticed this thread on Astec alarm. I have an Astec alarm and I need to remove some contacts from a window. I was wondering what steps need to be taken. Do I just enter the engineers code and then remove the contact from the window? Then what? In relation to the wiring is it essentially a switch? Do I just contect the black with black and red with red to close the circuit and thus remove the contact? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Jeremy.

They are wired in series if there are multiple windows on a loop where there are 2 cables at the contact wire black to black in the centre terminal & 1 red each side.
At the end of line where there is a single cable you will use a 1k5 ohm resistor.
Wire black to 1 end of the resistor into the centre terminal, the other end of the resistor into on side & the red into the other side.
