Thread: Secure Watch (HKC) 1999 no display/power

  1. Default Secure Watch (HKC) 1999 no display/power

    Hi,

I have recently moved into a secondhand house where the Secure watch (HKC) Alarm is not working & has never since we moved in.The alarm was installed in 1999 as far as I know.

The panel in the Hall does Not show anything as if there is no power going to it ..... ( all the trip switches are on!!!)

I have taken off the front cover of the Main board (see attached) .

On the board (top right) there are four places for fuses three have fuses ,
one has Not, could this be my problem or is this a red herring .....????

Also would i be right in stating the arming oanle in the hall is powered by the mains and the actual bell, by the battery ???

Any help would be a great help

    Cool site btw

Yes the missing fuse needs to be replaced. Check panel lid for exact rating. Proboly 1amp would be ok.
The key pad in the hall is powered by 12v dc from the panel (which also has battery back up. The bell is the same but also has its own battery (capacitor) also.

Thanks a mill Admin, I'm sure I'll be back.... As once I put that fuse in , I'll probably open a whole can of worms.
I'll let you know how I get on .
    Cheers,

  4. Default HKC Power/Display issue

Eventually got around to looking at the problem again and got fuses for the Board, When I turned the electricty back on got power to the board and alarm went off for two rings then a message appeared on the panel but too disappeared too quick before I could read it. Power to the board then went again .

Sounds like a problem with the Board maybe...??
I would think a this stage I would need a proffesional to look at the alarm ...??

Could be a problem with the board or the power supply itself.
Is the battery fully powered? If so will the panel power up on the battery?
If not its the board, if it does its the power supply.

    Hi jay ,

Thanks for the reply , the battery is not connected so I disconnected the lead connecting the power supply to the board, put in a new fuse and that blew again so it looks like the power supply is the problem, am in the process of getting a new psu , but no doubt I'll be back again ..

    Thanks again,

Got my hands on a new power supply and intend defaulting the board in the coming days as i do'nt have the user code ,

Obviosuly system will need to be re-programmed and not sure what the process is.
    As regard defaulting the system,

These are the steps I'll be using (correct me if i'm wrong )
    1. Turn off all power
    2.Remove LK1 jumper from PCB
    3.Power back up
4 If system powers up armed enter default user code 01111 . If the system disarms it is unlocked. Enter the default engineer code 04567
    5 Replace the LK1 link

Once I put the power back on I presume the alarm will sound straight away and thats when I enter user code of 01111 ....??

Is there a quick guide to re-programming the alarm or what is the best way to start off ....It's my first time using the alarm let alone programming one so be gentle ,
    thanks amill

Your best bet would be to get your hands on the engineer manual.
Its available in our downloads section to subscribers. Or it can be purchased in our shop here.
