help please with setting up sensors on aritech cs350 system
Hi,
Moved in to rented house. Landlord didn't know alarm code.
Quite happy with progress so far:
1/ disconnected power and reset to default using JP1 jumper
2/ changed alarm code + activated 2nd panel
3/ repaired open contact by replacing missing magnet with a magnet from a cupboard fitting
4/ tested the doors with magnet sensors by setting the alarm off with them when system was armed
Now I'm trying to test sensors on windows, but have beginners questions on it:
1/ system is armed, but opening/closing windows does not set off alarm
2/ sensors are fitted to frames rather than windows, so maybe they detect glass breaking rather than window movement?
3/ assuming they just detect breaking glass, I suppose I can't test them very easily? (I can record a breaking glass bottle and play it back loudly next to the sensor I guess)
4/ Zones 1, 5 and 6 are the magnet sensors for the 3 doors (front door and 2 back doors) ... I guess the window sensors are on one or a mixture of zones 2/3/4? (6 zones is the max)
5/ Attributes for zones 2,3,4,5 and 6 are just IN and type = ALARM. That seems to work well for the doors with magnet sensors, but is it enough to set them as IN and ALARM for the window sensors? I guess so, but I've found the install guide and there are attributes you can set per zone such as LA (local alarm contact) and LS (local alarm shock), so I'm wondering if I need to set these attributes or not?
6/ That's my main question really. I've reset the system with JP1 jumper, so maybe I need to manually set up attributes for window sensor zones (2,3 and 4) or maybe just leaving it as is might be OK? The settings after reset are fine for the magnet sensor zones (1,5 and 6)
Any help appreciated. I thought I would have it licked after finding the install guide, but it's quite technical and not much use if you don't know what type of sensor you have on your windows!!
What type of window sensors do they seem to be to you? Will I post a picture?
Looks like a great forum this. Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Des

Hi Des , They are probably just inertia sensors on the window. Test them by setting the alarm & tapping the sensors. You can also walk test in Engineer>Maintenance>Walk test > Zone number.
Attribute IN means inhibiting of that zone is possible.
You will also need to set gross & pulse setting for each zone 1-4 ( usual levels are 5 5.
Zones 5 & 6 are not analysed.

Hi Jay,
That is champion! Thanks a lot. I had found the walk test, but though it dodn;t work as nothing happened when opening a door on zone 1 with "walk test zone 01" active. However, after setting up the gross and pulse on zones 2 to 4, not only did the inertia sensors (you were right) set off the alarm, but those sensors also registered on a walk test of zones 2 to 4, so I could identify which sensors were in whcih zone. This will be handy for setting up part-sets/profiles. I haven't managed to find that yet, but I'm sure I will. You've cracked the mystery of the window sensors for me. Thanks again,
Cheers,
Des
